Behavioural Science
Since December 2021, FAO’s Office of Innovation (OIN) has been collaborating with divisions and decentralized offices to explore behavioural science (BeSci) as an innovation approach with the potential to increase impact and efficiency. To that end, OIN and FAO Kenya partnered with Busara Center for Behavioral Economics to establish a Regional Decision Lab and Innovation Hub in Nairobi. The team is staffed by the Regional Team for Eastern Africa (RTEA), the regional component of the Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) and FAO Mozambique. With Busara’s technical support, the team built its BeSci capacities, identified behaviour change opportunities and designed and implemented pilots. This event will share evidence generated and team experiences.
The event will feature presentations from Regional Decision Lab members, observations from Busara experts and reflections from FAO regional leads. Content will show how the initiative began, the process it followed and the early results it has generated. Open discussion with Q&A will be featured.
