Impact Report (2024): UNODC RiseUp4Peace Initiative

RiseUp4Peace is an educational initiative of UNODC being spearheaded in collaboration with educator partners in India at the school level. The initiative is a ‘voluntary coalition’ of educators to build capacities, foster cross-learning, conduct interactive activity-based programs with students and co-create good practices to promote a culture of peace, the rule of law and social responsibility in young people, as envisaged in India’s National Education Policy 2020. The initiative has been extensively engaging educators and students at the school level on a wide-range of themes pertaining to mental health, cybercrime, gender equality, inclusion, integrity/ethics as well as negative influences, among others. RiseUp4Peace equips educators with strategies to foster supportive learning environments and empower students. In the process, students realise their potential: in public speaking, leadership, empathy and creativity. At the core of the initiative is an emphasis on building skills and knowledge among educators and fostering cross-learning opportunities. Committed to enhance inclusion and leave no one behind, the RiseUp4Peace has actively bridged rural-urban, gender and digital divides. Educators are now better prepared to integrate SDG 16 themes into their curriculum, fostering a generation of young people who are sensitised and committed to promoting peace and justice. The feedback from educators has been overwhelmingly positive—with many joining hands and developing collaborative initiatives to promote a sense of purpose among students from diverse backgrounds and build a culture of peace, integrity and lawfulness through educationRiseUp4Peace is an educational initiative of UNODC being spearheaded in collaboration with educator partners in India at the school level.
