Applying Brain and Behavioural Science to Peace and Security

This talk will focus on using social neuroscience to augment peacemaking practice. Advances in our understanding of human psychology and the human brain have provided us with new tools to explain, understand and potentially improve our experiences in our peace and security work. In this presentation, drawing on specific case studies, the founder and CEO of Beyond Conflict Tim Phillips, and the Senior Science and Technology Advisor for its Innovation Lab, Bill Casebeer, will review and discuss some brain basics and how they are relevant for the mission of the United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs
